About The Owner
Hello Y'all, My name is Summer and my husbands name is John. What we are doing here..... We are building a homestead. We bought and moved to a 25 acres homestead the April 1st 2019. We moved to a property outside of Columbia in Kentucky from the west cost. Big change, for the best for sure! Since we have moved here April 1, 2019, we have accumulated 80+ chickens, 45 ducks, 6 geese, 10 guinea, 28 turkeys, 3 cats, 6 rabbits, 5 pigs, 2 cows (1 we milk), and 2 dogs. We are located half way in-between Lake Cumberland and Green River State Park. So 24 miles to L.C. and 23.5 to G. R.S.P and 31.6 miles to the top of Green River Paddling Trail Cabins. If you need a dump station you can find one close to us at 69 Corps Road Columbia, KY 42728. We are really working hard to get our homestead running efficiently as well as have a lot of fun in the process. If you are interested in having us teach your children about the different animals we have here, as well as the care of them, we would be happy to do that. What we enjoy on our property.... There is a beautiful pond with lush trees around most of it. It's stocked with bass and bluegill so we love to fish in it as well as kayak on it. Kayaking in our little pond is by far the most relaxing thing to do here. The beauty take my breath away everyday. We also have a wide year round creek that is fun to fish in and just hang out at. We also enjoy archery, hunting, hiking and just being outdoors. The sun rises and sun sets are amazing here. Beauty all around us. A perfect piece of paradise for sure!
We had a wonderful weekend getaway at this little farm. It was a bit out-of-the way and so it was great our hosts checked in with us to make sure we found it okay. The rv pad was perfect, a pull through space down the hill from the house. Private, grassy, with wonderful nature views.... and it was level. There was water and electric. My girls loved getting to feed all the animals with the hosts, wandering on the trails and we loved sitting by the pond fishing. We went on a rainy weekend, but we enjoyed ourselves alot. Note: We have a 30' trailer and it was a tight to pull around to get out - and a bit steep. I took out some fencing in the process, sorry!-Kendra Atkinson
Summer was the perfect host. She has a love for homesteading and teaching about the natural way of doing things. She also has a wonderful variety of animals that include poultry, a few pigs, and some cows. We found out that she likes to welcome groups to learn about the ins and outs of raising, caring, and processing animals. My husband was able to do some early morning fishing in the pond, which he found relaxing, and he thought it would be perfect for family outings. The pond is stocked with smallmouth bass and has some fair-sized bluegill. For a limited time, the family is offering a $20 bounty to the person that catches a pesky snapping turtle. Summer's customers come from as far as Lexington to buy their organic meat. When we arrived, she offered us a choice of parking spots, one with electricity, water, and an alarm ( courtesy of the roosters). The other place is in front of the property but allows for dry camping only.-Mike Lockwood
